Navigating the New L’Année Philologique Interface
Wednesday, May 7th at 11:00 am–12:00 pm ET
Virtual (Zoom Webinar)

Think you know L'Année philologique (APh)? Think again!

APh, the premiere bibliographic database for Classical Studies, isn’t just about bibliography. Are you planning to submit your newly completed article to a scholarly journal, and are trying to decide which one is most appropriate for your subject? A bibliometrics search will show you what disciplines, ancient authors, and subjects are covered in any given journal—as well as a wealth of data about that journal’s publication history.

Or would you like to know how Euripides’s tragedies have been adapted in film, manga, contemporary jazz opera, or poetry by H.D. and Anne Carson? A search in the subject tree for “Modern reception” combined with an ancient author search for “Euripides” yields 50 fascinating results.

A lot about APh has changed in the last couple of years, from a massively improved search engine and interface to expanded coverage of related fields like reception studies. We are excited to invite you to an informative webinar where we will introduce the new interface of APh. Librarians, scholars, students, and anyone interested in learning more about what APh can do for your research and teaching are welcome to join. Time permitting, a Q&A will follow.

Speakers: Mackenzie "Mack" Zalin (Librarian for Classics at Johns Hopkins University and Chair of the Advisory Board of the American Office of L’Année philologique to the Society for Classical Studies) and Chris VandenBorre (Project Manager, Brepols)
