The C. J. Goodwin Award of Merit Committee is delighted to announce the three recipients of the 2024 Charles J. Goodwin Award of Merit. The Goodwin Awards honor outstanding contributions to classical scholarship by members of the Society. This year’s awardees are:
Applications are being accepted for research grants utilizing The Eberly Family Special Collections Library. For 2024-2025, awards of $4,000 to be used for travel and/or research expenses related to the Eberly Family Special Collections Library at Penn State’s University Park campus to utilize the Library’s collections for academic research are available in the areas listed below.

Exploring the Assumptions of Cultural History
Year 2: Comparative Work
The Society for Classical Studies is pleased to announce the new annual Award for Outstanding Literary Translation. The award will honor up to two books each year by SCS members published within the past three calendar years. The translated work shall be a primary text in Ancient Greek or Latin.
Recipients will be chosen by three judges serving staggered terms. In 2025, these judges will be Sarah Ruden, Deborah Roberts, and Adrienne K. Ho Rose.
The Bibliographical Society of America (BSA) funds more than a dozen fellowships supporting a broad range of bibliographical pursuits to promote critical inquiry and research in the field of bibliography in both traditional and emerging formats.
